Theatre Class
at the Musical Arts Schoolhouse

Preschoolers rotate through four classroom areas each day
45 minutes of Music, 45 minutes of Dance, 45 minutes of Theatre and 45 minutes of Preschool/Art

Benefits of Theatre in a Child’s Life:

During our Theatre class in Frisco children are given the opportunity to use their imagination while being in character through different stories, skits, fables, tall-tales and more including stage experience and many costumes! In addition to learning their way around a stage your child will also learn about facial expressions, casting, auditioning, stage presence and performance.

Our Theatre program for 4 and 5 year olds enhances self esteem, encourages cooperation and interaction with others ultimately improving communication and listening skills.

Children feel confident and secure when they are cast because everyone plays a part! We incorporate age appropriate skits in two ways: teacher directed such as "The Three little Pigs", and child initiated by simply providing a topic and allowing the children to create their own story through imagination!

A Typical Day:

Children at this private school are busy! During the half-day program for pre-K, students rotate through four classrooms that focus on music, dance, theatre and preschool with art.

Each class time is concentrated on skill building with age appropriate activities, and the teachers make it fun. The faculty is highly trained in their area of artistic discipline, and have a genuine love for this age group.

The Musical Arts Schoolhouse is a licensed child-care center and is located at the Frisco School of Music, a premier private music school in the area, at Preston and Main Street in Frisco.

Lacy Crowder: Lead Theatre Teacher

Lacy Crowder: Assistant Teacher, Musical Arts Schoolhouse

Hello, my name is Lacy Prince. I was born and raised in Longview, Texas and have lived in this great state most of my entire life! I am the oldest of five kids in my family. My favorite things to do in the world are acting, singing, dance, and anything related to design and creativity in the theater arena! Working with children has always been another passion of mine, and I am so excited and feel so blessed to be able to combine getting to do the things I love most here at the Musical Arts Schoolhouse!

Though my love for theater began as a child, my involvement actually began in high school! Since then I have had the privilege to study theater and acting in many different forms and under many different directors at both Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois where I studied Musical Theater, and at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas, where I graduated and received my Bachelor's degree in Theater Performance and Production. My education and training includes acting, musical theater, directing, creative drama for children, period styles, acting for film and television, costume design and history, dance, voice for the actor, makeup design and stage management.

Outside of school I spent 3 years acting and working with many productions at the Longview Community Theatre, and have also performed with the City Theatre in Austin, TX. Between school and regional theatre, favorite past shows I have acted in include: Into the Woods, Carousel, Grease, Brigadoon, Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, Scrooge the Musical, Bus Stop, Much Ado About Nothing, Taming of the Shrew, and Ragtime the Musical. I have also acted in several short films, including: Card Me if You Can, first place winner at the 2011 Texas 24 Hour Film Race, Parranoying Activity which aired on Comedy Central in 2009, and Down, Right, Hearted of the 2010 Doorpost Film Festival. Right now I also perform and write scripts for a children's musical group called the Fun Beat Movers, where we perform fun shows to children ages 3-7.

I am married to my best friend (and brilliant Indie filmmaker), Jordan Crowder, and we will be living here in the Frisco area. We are both thrilled for me to be joining the Musical Arts Schoolhouse team, and look very forward to the coming year!
